A Historic First for Türkiye! Coach Buceschi Shares His Thoughts
Head coach of the Turkish Women's National Handball Team, Costica Buceschi, expressed his aspirations for success as the team prepares for the EHF 2024 Women's European Handball Championship, which kicks off on November 28 in Hungary.
Emphasizing the significance of Türkiye's debut in the prestigious tournament, Buceschi noted the challenging competition awaiting them:
"We earned the right to participate in the European Championship by finishing among the best third-placed teams in our group. In the finals, we will face strong opponents such as Hungary, Sweden, and North Macedonia. Our goal is to achieve the best possible results."
Buceschi highlighted the importance of this historic milestone for Turkish handball:
"The success we achieve here will set the stage for an even better performance when we host the European Championship in Antalya in 2026. Since we are exempt from the qualification rounds for 2026, we will have the opportunity to compete in the European Cup against top-tier nations. This will allow us to gain valuable experience, aiming for greater success in 2026.
Furthermore, our ultimate goal is to qualify for the World Championship by building on the achievements here."
As Türkiye's first appearance on the European handball stage approaches, Buceschi and his team are determined to make the most of this moment and pave the way for the future of Turkish handball.
