Türkiye Chasing Their Dreams! Betül Yılmaz: 'We Waited a Long Time for This Moment'
Captain of the Türkiye Women's National Handball Team, Betül Yılmaz, shared her pride, excitement, and happiness about representing Turkey for the first time in a European Championship.
Speaking ahead of the EHF 2024 Women's European Handball Championship, which begins on November 28 in Hungary, Yılmaz expressed the team's determination to achieve positive results:
“We've been dreaming about participating in a European Championship for a long time, and now we've finally made it. All of us are incredibly proud of this achievement.
We are also excited about the tournament, with just eight days left. We'll open the tournament against the host nation, Hungary, which makes it even more special. Starting the championship with a memorable and top-level performance is our goal. After that, we will face Sweden. Our aim is to achieve maximum success and progress from the group, if not as the leaders, then as the runners-up.
Our preparations are now in their final stages. We've waited a long time for this dream to come true, and we're not ready to give up. We want to finish the tournament with maximum success.”
Betül Yılmaz and the team are set to carry the hopes of Turkish handball fans as they embark on this historic journey, determined to make their mark on the European stage.
